LANE MOTOR MUSEUM PARADE & SHOWCASE
Welcome to Artomobilia Weekend 2026, where we partner with the Lane Motor Museum to highlight a rare and often overlooked side of automotive history. This showcase is built around a simple but powerful idea: moments when engineers chose possibility over convention and said yes to ideas that felt risky, impractical, or ahead of their time.
The Lane Motor Museum collection, assembled by Jeff Lane, is internationally respected for preserving vehicles that exist because someone refused the safe answer. These cars were not optimized for mass appeal or easy production. They were engineered with conviction, driven by curiosity, and built because the question was not “should we?” but “what happens if we do?”
This philosophy comes to life through a curated parade that brings select vehicles out of the museum and onto the road. Guests will see these machines in motion as they travel together to the Lane Motor Museum Showcase, reinforcing the idea that engineering decisions are best understood when experienced, not just observed. The drive itself becomes part of the story, a rolling exhibition of bold thinking.
At the center are the propeller-driven cars that define the theme. The Helicron and the Marcel Leyat Helica exist because their creators applied aviation logic directly to the automobile and answered every objection with action. No traditional drivetrain. No compromise for convention. Just airflow, mechanics, and confidence.
Surrounding them is a group of vehicles that expand the narrative. The Dymaxion Car asks how cities might function differently. The Tatra T87 proves advanced aerodynamics could be elegant and effective. The Zündapp Janus embraces symmetry to an extreme. The Citroën 2CV demonstrates how unconventional thinking can lead to enduring practicality.
Together, these cars form a cohesive statement. Progress does not come from consensus. It comes from individuals willing to say yes when others hesitate. The Lane Motor Museum Showcase is a moving reminder that some of the most interesting cars ever made exist not because they were safe ideas, but because someone chose to build them anyway.
