Lotus-Palooza: The Art of Excellence
A long partnership, a shared philosophy, and a marque that proves less really can be more.
In the early years of Artomobilia, when the field was small and momentum mattered, we relied on people who said yes and then actually showed up. Young Kim was always one of those people.
When Artomobilia was still finding its footing, Young consistently brought six, eight, sometimes ten remarkable cars. Aston Martins. Mercedes. But most memorably, Lotus. Those early contributions mattered. They filled the street, raised the standard, and helped define what Artomobilia could become. Reliability like that is rare, and it never goes unnoticed.
What we did not fully appreciate at the time was that Young had quietly become one of the most respected Lotus collectors and experts in the country. His lifelong fascination with the marque, sparked by a white S2 Esprit he saw as a child, evolved into deep technical knowledge, hands-on experience, and ultimately the founding of Gator Motorsport. Today, Gator Motorsport is nationally recognized for its Lotus sales, service, and unwavering integrity.
Lotus-Palooza was a natural extension of that relationship. Not just to spotlight rare cars, though it certainly does that, but to celebrate a philosophy. The same one articulated by Colin Chapman, founder of Lotus Cars: simplify, then add lightness.
That philosophy connects Chapman to Young, and it defines Lotus-Palooza. At its core, this gathering is about the art of engineering: the discipline of restraint, the intelligence of purposeful design, and the confidence to solve problems by removing complexity rather than adding to it. Once a year, these cars and their owners come together in Carmel Midtown to celebrate engineering purity, thoughtful execution, and a shared respect for doing things the right way.
That same philosophy extends beyond Lotus and into everything Gator Motorsport does. While the marques they support may differ, their approach does not. Precision. Accountability. Deep expertise. Whether selling, servicing, or supporting high-performance automobiles, Gator Motorsport applies the same disciplined mindset to every relationship. The result is trust earned over time, not promised up front, and a reputation built on consistency rather than scale.
